Dizziness & Balance

Our specialist vestibular therapist can retrain your balance system to help you manage your dizziness or balance problems.

Treatment at your own pace
The treatment we provide can help you overcome the unsettling challenges that dizziness and balance problems can bring to your daily life.

We know that dizziness isn’t a ‘one-size fits all’ condition. Here at Bradley Stoke Physio & Health our vestibular physio (our therapist with a special interest in dizziness and balance) will devise treatment for you based not only on the cause of your dizziness, but also on the ways in which it effects you.

Your therapist will know how to pace your treatment as well, so you feel supported and not rushed in making progress. Depending on your symptoms, it can be quite a challenge to get your brain to relearn how to recognise and process signals from your balance system. Your therapist will give you confidence to use your new skills as soon as you are ready, whether that’s in your first session or once you have had more time to practice.

As you become more confident you can be assured, too, that your vestibular therapist will be able to continue to help as you face any new challenges.

What type of Dizziness and Balance problems do we treat?
People seek our help because they consistently feel dizzy, have problems with their balance, or find that they regularly struggle with staying on their feet or performing daily tasks such as getting dressed. Vestibular problems can be experienced by:

  • People who have no known cause for their dizziness or balance problems. It just happens to them.
  • Older people who find they are unsteady on their feet or have a fall.
  • People with particular vestibular-linked conditions such as:
  • Vertigo
  • Ménières Disease
  • Labyrinthitis
  • BPPV (Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo)
  • People who suffer from Stroke, Multiple Sclerosis, or concussion

It is also possible to experience dizziness, or symptoms can be worse, if you are particularly stressed or anxious.

“After an ongoing issue with dizziness and balance following labyrinthitis, I wasn’t sure where to turn to fix it. Following a few sessions at Bradley Stoke Physio, where the lovely Kath looked after me and showed me some exercises to relieve my symptoms, I’m now like a new person! Excited now to finally walk in a straight line and up an escalator, she gave me my confidence back to do things I was once scared of. I would absolutely recommend Bradley Stoke Physio, what a lovely team of professional people who really look after you. Thank you!” – Claire F
