Hello, I’m Kathryn “Kath” Stephenson and I run Bradley Stoke Physio with my co-Director Louise Dodds.

Member of ACPIVR (Association of Chartered Physiotherapists Interested in Vestibular Rehabilitation) the AACP (Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists), Physio First, Certified Pilates teacher with APPI (Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute).

Having trained initially at Newcastle Polytechnic and graduating in 1983, I have made my way south to the West of England via work both in the NHS & in private work in Oxford, Cambridge and Dursley.  I have been involved in training other physiotherapists and supporting their professional development.

The therapies I offer and my special interests: Reflecting on my 30 plus years as a Chartered Physiotherapist I notice that people with spinal or back pain, and shoulder, hip or knee pain tend to seek me for treatment, perhaps because I get results quickly and use acupuncture to supplement physiotherapy where appropriate to alleviate their pain.

I have also  developed a real interest in treating people who suffer from dizziness or balance problems – classed as vestibular disorders in physiotherapy terms.  Vestibular treatment has become a speciality here at Bradley Stoke Physio.

Following many years practising Pilates and recognising how it can help speed recovery and maintain strength and core stability, and as a qualified APPI Pilates teacher, I offer Therapist-led Pilates classes to support our patients in ongoing and supervised care.

Why I do what I do: I am lucky enough to love my work.  Meeting interesting people every single day and helping them to feel better & to return to activity makes it an incredibly rewarding role, and a humbling one too at times.

I also have a great love of the outdoors and couldn’t imagine what it would be like to not be able to get out to see my family and friends, walk my dog, run, or work in the garden.  When people can’t do what they love to do because they can’t move well enough, then I am extremely delighted to be in a position to help.

We also have a great team at Bradley Stoke Physio.  The people here are thoroughly dedicated to helping people in our local community feel better, stronger and happier and that’s worth so much.

Why book an appointment with me: People come to me if they are struggling with pain or injury and need help to resolve things more quickly.  With my special vestibular interest, I can also help if you feel dizzy or have problems with unsteadiness.
