Caroline Sweetnam

Caroline Sweetnam

Chartered Physiotherapist

For me, each individual is important. I have a deep interest in people and hearing peoples’ stories. I am an attentive listener and find it important to understand “the bigger picture”. I take a thorough approach to assessment and look not just at what is happening physically but also at a person’s lifestyle, concerns and goals.

Hello, I’m Caroline. I am a Physiotherapist experienced in helping people manage long term pain.

QUALIFICATIONS: MSc MCSP
CSP: 48893
HCPC: PH40464

Member of the PPA (Physiotherapy Pain association) and AACP (Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists)

The therapies I offer and my special interests: I have always been interested in understanding more about the impact of the mind on health and wellbeing. In 1998, I completed an MSc in Health Psychology at Southampton University. Following this, I went on to specialise in chronic pain and fatigue management, working in a number of Pain Management services.

Our bodies have an incredible potential to heal and there is much we can do to help ourselves. My aims are to encourage and support this ability by helping people take control and manage their condition, in as few treatments as possible. Treatments consist of hands on soft tissue treatments, massage, exercises, lifestyle advice and taping. I am a member of the AACP (Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists) and use acupuncture to good effect, alongside my usual physiotherapy treatments. I have now completed study on the treatment of TMJ and tinnitus and use my skills to help with these conditions.

Outside of work, I enjoy being active and outdoors (preferably both at the same time). I am a member of my local church and have two teenage sons, who constantly keep me on my toes!

Why I do what I do: I feel highly privileged to work in a profession where I can combine my love of being active with a genuine desire to make a difference in peoples’ lives.

I know from my own experiences how important it is to find practical ways of balancing the requirements of an active family / work life with my own health needs. This helps keep my treatment approach practical, flexible and above all, patient-focussed.

Why book an appointment with me: If you would like a caring and supportive service, which is tailored to your specific needs, then do not hesitate in getting in contact. Whether it is your first episode of pain or a recurring condition, I can help get you back on track.

I look forward to meeting you!
