The therapies I offer and my special interests: Having taught yoga classes and workshops in and around Bristol and South Gloucestershire for nearly 25 years, I’ve worked with all age groups and abilities. More recently, my interest has gravitated towards working with older adults, and those with specific health-related conditions, such as MS, Fibromyalgia, Arthritis and Osteoporosis. I’ve studied many styles of yoga and have specialist training in Gentle Years Yoga© and Yoga for Healthy Backs, both of which have undergone successful clinical trials and are recommended by many health-care professionals. I'm privileged to share this knowledge and experience with those taking part in the Chair-based Yoga classes I run at Bradley Stoke Physio & Health.
I’m married with two grown up children, one of whom is a Physiotherapist. Teaching and practising yoga is a major part of my life – I’m also a part-time administrator and book-keeper – and make time to go running, swim, and pull weeds and grow organic fruit and vegetables on our allotment.
Why I do what I do: I appreciate the importance of choice and quality in health care. I’m fortunate to be able to use my skills and interests to enhance the health and well-being of others – and to share my knowledge and experience with everyone who comes to my classes, workshops and training courses.
Yoga is more than just an exercise – my own experience and feedback from those I teach confirms this on a daily basis. Yoga builds strength, increases flexibility and improves balance, both mentally and physically. I’m committed to promoting yoga as a safe and effective way to keep active and maintain independence, regardless of age or any limiting condition. Using a chair as the base for a yoga practice makes this possible.
Why book on to my Chair-based Yoga classes: We all know how easy it is to become lazy and lethargic, particularly when we have an injury or condition that limits our mobility and saps our energy. Finding the motivation to exercise at home on your own can be difficult. Coming to a small class, knowing that you’ll have the props and support you need, with an enthusiastic and experienced teacher to guide you through top to toe movements, breathing, concentration and relaxation exercises, could be just what you need to maintain and enhance your health and well-being.
